John O’Groats to Lands End Cycle Ride
Text Box: Graham and I are planning a cycle ride from John O’Groats to Lands End in aid of Mencap. We travel to Scotland on Thursday 18th April 2013 and start the journey south early the following morning. The next 9 days will see us complete a gruelling average of around 100 miles a day with considerable climbs on most sections. You can find the full route and overnight stops on the following pages. We should stick to this itinerary pretty closely but overnight accommodation and other factors may necessitate in some tweaking as we progress. On day 7 of the ride we will be riding in convoy with representatives from Marks & Spencer’s Head Office. M&S has given a pledge to help with the trip and fundraising so as a thank you, and due to the interest this has created, we have suggested that around 20 riders from our sponsors join us for the Merry Hill to Cribss Causeway leg between the two M&S stores. Details can be seen on the M&S invite page but we are hoping for and early morning coach from M&S HO to take everyone to Merryhill where Graham and myself should have arrived the night before. From there we will all cycle south to Cribbs for a celebratory glass of Lucozade and maybe the odd photo before being put up in a local hotel. We would also love to hear from you if you think you may be able to sponsor any of the items we need , these range from the bikes we will be riding to energy bars, and Fuel for the support vehicle to cycle clothing. Even if you can only spare a little it all helps us reach our target for Mencap.
