Text Box: Day Nine, Okehampton to Land’s End
Saturday 27th April

Finally a tail wind! Less than a mile from the hotel we hit the A30 which led all the way to Land’s end. The usual pattern emerged with me off the pace although on any other day I would have kept up thanks to the beneficial wind. I was going well but again took to the van at around 20 miles as the gap was getting big. After around 60 miles we had stopped in a layby and Andrew came in on Graham’s bike with Graham jogging beside Andrew’s bike, the reason a puncture on Andrew’s bike as he could not run in cleats. Graham went straight off and we tried to fix Andrew’s bike but without luck. We lost around 25 minutes on Graham and had to get Andrew going on my bike. I really wanted to ride the last leg so we had to fix Andrew’s bike, and Thanks to Nigel at the Camelford Halfords, that’s what we did. When we caught back up with Andrew I rode with him to Penzance where Graham had waited. All 3 of us completed the last 12 miles to the end and had the compulsory photos. We rested at the hotel bar for a while and Tony excelled yet again, he had arranged for us to use one of the rooms to shower and clean up before driving home.

I apologise if this all seems a little like my story but the schedule throughout has been quite demanding and poor internet connections meant that we have not been able to sit down much and compare notes. I will add photos soon and Maybe Graham will post his side of things, if indeed the are that much different.

I will also list as many people and places that have made this trip what it was as soon as possible but in the meantime I would like to thank everyone who has donated or sponsored us, all at M&S, organisers and riders alike. I would also like to thank Graham’s parents tony and Pat, Tony was with us all the way and we could not have done it without him. Lastly Thanks to Graham, it was his idea and he wanted me involved, probably had more confidence in me than I did as well, sorry I didn’t stay with you all the way but I think the final count was around 550 miles compared to Grahams 950 plus so not too bad. Just to sum up, it was great but never again!!!
