Text Box: Day Four, East Kilbride to Carlisle Monday 22nd April We left the hotel and travelled the short distance to Braehead store. The staff were wonderful providing us all with breakfast and a generous donation to the cause. Before we left we had photos in front of the store and set off across Glasgow towards Strathaven and eventually to Carlisle via the Scotland / England border. The weather was miserable, driving rain, strong winds and very cold. Unfortunately Dennis was not doing well in these conditions and as we hoped to make up some distance due to Last night stop being further north than planned, Graham carried on alone for a while, suffering all the things that cyclists dread, wind, cold, hills, uneven roads and over a 100 miles to get through. Graham ploughed on south regardless and even made up enough time so Dennis could re-join him for around 25 miles at the end. We sent Tony (Graham’s Dad) on ahead to sort the hotel and we travelled down to Gretna Green (where Graham proposed to Dennis, luckily he wasn’t offended by a swift refusal!!) after crossing the border it was just a few miles to Carlisle and back on schedule.
