Text Box: The Trip Begins

We have arrived at the B&B about 10 miles from JOG. We left at just after 6am and got here at about 7.30pm. The wind is very strong and it is rainy, there is also about 35 milesin the middle of tomorrows ride with somevery steep hills—both up and down. Hopefully we wil get a favourable changeto the weather, watch this space.

We leave from Hemel Hempstead in our support vehicle early on the morning of Thursday 18th April and drive all the way to the pre booked Guest House in Wick which is around 20 miles south of our John O’Groats start point on Friday.

This in itself will probably be a gruelling day and not the best way to prepare for the actual ride.
As Myself (Dennis) Graham and his Dad Tony will all be travelling in the VW Caravelle we should be able share driving and even with the bikes and kit we will have a little room to stretch out. We also have the benefit of being able to use motorways for a large part of the journey, a luxury not afforded to us when we start the trip.
